GEORG ÓSKAR:
Georg Óskar is an Icelandic painter whose work explores exhaustion, overstimulation, humor, and emotional instability through heavily layered surfaces, crude gestures, and fragile compositions. His paintings balance discomfort and tenderness, often feeling simultaneously chaotic, intimate, and strangely human.
“I Am More Tired Than My Cat” is an exhibition about mental noise, sleeplessness, emotional overload, and the absurd reality of being human. The works drift between collapse and comedy and restless paintings filled with tension, grime, vulnerability, and small moments of accidental humor.
WHAT ARE WE DOING.
Technically it is a surreal mixture between different paint mediums, paper and waterbased digital printing ink. The designs are sampled from previous paintings, drawings and written works made by the artist and then re-designed in new complex compositions. These compositions are then printed on top of original artworks on paper giving both the painting and print new conceptual and aesthetic form. The artworks were often made in several rounds of painting and printing, each layer building something new.
The exhibition takes place on the 30th of may in Vacant Editions' studio at Gjerdrums vei 14 in Nydalen, Oslo.
